The role

BIS Oxford Economics, a leading research and consultancy firm, is looking to hire a Business Development Manager who has a passion for global business trends and strategy to join its existing sales team. The primary responsibility for this role will be bring on board new clients to support the growth of the subscriptions business in Australia and New Zealand, primarily across Real Estate, Construction and Finance sectors. The person will require excellent communication skills and be very well organised in order to build strong relationships with C-suite executive prospects and ensure new sales of our subscription products while also finding new consulting opportunities  

 This role is an integral part of Oxford’s growth plans for Australia and New Zealand and is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing company at the forefront of the industry. The key responsibilities within this role are as follows: 

How you will make an impact 

  •  Initiate and close sales of Oxford Economics subscription services 
  • Research, create and implement sales plans for assigned sectors/territory in alignment with the ANZ Director’s business development regional business plan 
  • Through market analysis, identify key companies in the territory, key individuals within companies, and establish relationships with the purpose of closing sales 
  • Coordinate sector business development initiatives and build a pipeline for the respective sectors 
  • Maintain a knowledge of global economic and business trends to facilitate conversations with clients 
  • Use a consultative sales approach to understand clients goals and problems  
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the subscription products and become proficient at providing demonstrations of the services 
  • Create sales presentations and lead webinars and meetings with prospective clients 


Internal Communication 

  • Communicate opportunities, challenges and feedback to relevant embers of our team  
  • Ensure CRM system information is accurate and complete to ensure timely and reliable delivery of subscription product to clients 
  • Ensure details and outcomes from client communications are recorded in company CRM system 
  • Record insights and learnings on prospects, clients and leads and share with the team 


Marketing and Product Enhancements 

  • Organise and manage our national conferences in Australia and New Zealand with up to 150 attendees, to raise brand profile and increase sales opportunities 
  • Create and action marketing campaigns to ensure existing client base renew their current services 
  • Provide feedback and suggest product improvements to product teams arising from client interaction  


Skills and experience
    • Minimum 2-3 years B2B business development experience with a proven track record 
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills 
    • A desire to meet and achieve goals  
    • Must be highly organised and able to manage multiple projects at once  
    • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM tools 
    • Must be a self-starter, with the drive to set and reach ambitious goals  
    • Must be a team player 
    • Be adaptable to change and embrace new approaches 
    • Eye for detail and accuracy 
  • Previous experience in Real Estate, Construction or Finance 
  • University degree, ideally within a relevant field (economics, business, finance, marketing) 
  • Salesforce CRM Experience
