Economist, Cities & Regions - Belfast

We are currently seeking high-calibre Economists for our expanding cities and regions team to be based in our Lisburn office. The team is responsible for a range of sub-national consultancy projects for both public and private sector clients across the globe. Examples of the key type of work we undertake include, socio-economic assessments, technical modelling assignments, and economic impact studies. Our team also runs a unique suite of forecasting services that cover more than 7,000 cities and regions across the world, providing regularly updated data, forecasts and analysis for each location. 

The role

We are looking for an ambitious Economist to join the team to work primarily on the consultancy business, but to also provide support to our own forecasting team when required.   • Working on a range of bespoke consultancy projects across the globe (which may require limited travel from time to time);
  • Apply quantitative analytical techniques to large datasets; 
  • Handle clients and potential clients effectively and develop Oxford's relationship with them; 
  • Support the winning of new work and repeat work from clients; 
  • Being able to plan and structure one's own work ensuring sufficient time for quality assurance; and 
  • Support the production and development of our suite of city and regional forecasting services as required 
  • Strong academic education in Economics;
  • Between 2 and 5 years' experience as a professional Economist;
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; 
  • Ability to work effectively in teams across different offices and to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong Excel skills are essential, and experience with Eviews is desirable, but not essential.
