LATAM | Recovery Tracker jumps on Brazil’s big rebound
Our Latin America Recovery Tracker (LART) jumped 1.9pts during the week ending April 30, after the previous week’s 0.1pt drop was revised to a modest 0.2pts gain. Mobility picked up everywhere but Colombia and Peru.
What you will learn:
Brazil is once again leading the region’s return to pre-pandemic levels, with Mexico close behind. Argentina is now third, followed by Colombia. Peru’s recovery stalled, while Chile is improving but remains last.
Brazil continues to quickly ease restrictions, despite suffering the highest death toll, whereas Mexico, with the most lenient restrictions, has the lowest death rate.
Mobility receded in Peru and Colombia, where localized weekend curfews and mobility restrictions will last to at least mid-May. Restrictions in Mexico, Brazil, and Chile continue to ease.
