Job Vacancy - Oxford Economics - Principal Property Economist (Sydney)

BIS Oxford Economics, part of Oxford Economics Group, is a leading independent economic forecasting and analysis company. We are looking for a senior property market economist/analyst to join the business and lead our non-residential property subscription services. In this role you will be responsible for our range of non-residential property subscription services. You will manage a team of four Economists/Senior Economists and will need to leverage your knowledge and expertise in the office, retail and industrial property markets to oversee the production of high-quality non-residential property forecasts, research and analysis. You will understand how both domestic and global developments impact Australia’s property markets, and you will be looking to lead a team of talented individuals to provide our clients with the insights they need to make good decisions.  

You’ll also be connected with the rest of the team here in Sydney and the broader OE group. We promote a friendly, high achieving environment, and strongly encourage collaboration across different teams in Sydney and around the world.  


Skills and Experience:  Required 

  • Undergraduate degree in Property Economics, Economics or a related field (honours desired but not essential) 
  • 7+ years of experience analysing and forecasting property markets 
  • Proven track record of delivering interesting and insightful research to clients on a regular basis 
  • Desire to lead a team, take responsibility for the group’s output, and facilitate rewarding careers for team members 
  • Strong presentation and writing skills, comfortable interacting with clients in senior management roles in the private and public sector 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint 
  • Must be highly organised and able to manage multiple deliverables at once  
  • A self-starter, with the drive to set and reach ambitious goals and drive growth of a business area, together with our business development team 
  • A team player, who enjoys working with and learning from others 


Skills and Experience:  Desired 

  • Familiarity with economic modelling techniques and programming languages, such as EViews, R or Python 
  • Previous experience managing a team of economists/analysts
